Dorado Pkg worked with longtime client Peek-A-Boo Records on the upcoming album from indie-tronica band, The Octopus Project, set for release October 26th! The band’s four members played a major role in the design and production of “Hexadecagon,” creating a different cover for the Double LP and CD digipak, both of which were printed at Dorado Pkg.
“Hexadecagon” originated as a surround sound and video performance piece that The Octopus Project performed at SXSW in 2010 and the band wanted to translate this live performance onto their record jacket. They selected a still photograph of one of the animations from the SXSW performance, (by photographer and friend Wiley Wiggins) for the album cover, but throughout the whole process, all four band members had a hand in the album cover design, including typeface, the gatefold jacket’s layout and images in order to create something they were uniformly proud of.
“The fact that the music did not fit on a single LP had a great influence on the LP jacket design,” said Travis Higdon of Peek-A-Boo Records. “The Octopus Project had always wanted to release a gatefold jacket and this was the perfect opportunity. It’s been a pleasure working with Dorado Pkg on this project. At every stage of the process I felt my questions were answered promptly, requests were handled professionally and I was generally in good hands.”
